Life Story for James P. Reagan

James P. Reagan
James Paul Reagan, age 90, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at his residence. Born December 2, 1927 in Jamestown, Tennessee, he was the son of Shirley L. and Icie B. (Bilbrey) Reagan.

On September 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Clara Vardaman in Muncie, Indiana, and had just celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary at the time of her death on October 1, 2009.

Mr. Reagan was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1990 after a career with the former Allison Engine Company of Indianapolis (now the Rolls Royce Corporation) as a job setter. Additionally, he worked in the winter as a truck driver delivering fuel for the Hartley Oil Company of Muncie and, in the summer, for the Brookman Paving Company, also in Muncie.

Mr. Reagan moved to Mooresville from Yorktown, Indiana in 1963, and then to Milton, Kentucky after his retirement in 1990.

He was a Baptist, a member for twelve years of the Brown Township Volunteer Fire Department in Mooresville, Indiana, ten of which was as fire chief, the Civil Defense of Morgan County, Indiana, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He formerly bowled on bowling leagues and coached Little League baseball.

He will be sadly missed by three sons: Ron Reagan and his wife, Shirley of Mooresville, Don Reagan of Bedford, Kentucky, and Randy Reagan and his wife, Vanessa of Milton; two sisters: Lois Campbell and her husband, Bill, and Joyce Clevenger, all of Muncie; two half-brothers: John Reagan of Portland, Indiana, and Rodger Reagan of Bluffton, Indiana; one half-sister, Mary Reagan Graham of Bluffton; twenty grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers: J.C. Reagan and an infant brother; one grandson, James P. Reagan, II in 1996; and one brother-in-law, Jack Clevenger in 2018.

The Reverend Danny Clevenger will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Wood Oakley Chapel, 37 High Street, Milton, with interment to follow in Moffett Cemetery.

Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Wood Oakley Chapel, Milton from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 19, 2018, and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.

The Honor Guard from Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, Madison, and an honor detail from the U.S. Army will conduct military services at the cemetery.
