Linda Susan Massie, age 68, of North Vernon, Indiana, formerly of Madison, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born March 26, 1951 in Madison, she was the daughter of Charles Samuel and Charlotte Wanda Sue (Bear) Hyden.

On January 18, 1971, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Massie. Mrs. Massie began her career as a certified nursing assistant at the Hanover Nursing Center and later provided in home care. She also worked at the U.S. Shoe Factory and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Legion and she enjoyed watching TV, computer games, and taking care of her chihuahuas, Buddy and Duke.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Kenneth of North Vernon; her daughters: Tina Fergison and her husband, George, of North Vernon, Tammy Lewis and her husband, Donnie Sr., of Austin, Indiana, and Jennifer Massie and her companion, Julie Sebree of North Vernon; her mother and step-father, Charlotte and Freddie Carlisle; her sister: Brenda Charline Adams of Deputy, Indiana; her brother: Donnie Hyden of Splinter Ridge, Indiana; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great grandchild who is expected to arrive in September of 2019.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles; her brothers: Charles Hyden, David Hyden, and Garmen Carlisle; her sister: Norma Carlisle; and two granddaughters: Chelsea Breeden and Amanda Hendrix.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2019 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison’s Hilltop, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 25, 2019, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
